Moto G Vs. Moto X
Motorola G vs The Moto X. Motorola

With the announcement that the Moto X is making it’s way to the UK we thought it would be fun to compare the device to another Android-powered Motorola Device, its sibling the Moto G. While you can’t really compare the devices by software alone, as the Moto G very recently pushed an update to Android 4.4 Kit-Kat, there are many differences between these devices that stand out.

Screens - The first big difference is the screen size itself. The Motorola G has a smaller screen than the Moto X. It also differs in technology. While the Motorola G features a 4.5-inch LCD display the Moto X utilizes a 4.7-inch AMOLED panel. However, both devices have the same resolution offering 720p 1280 x 720 HD images.

Processor - While the Motorola G may lack in screen size and type, it certainly makes up for it with a better processor. The Motorola G totes a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor while the Moto X has a 1.7Ghz dual-core processor. However, the Moto X comes with 2GB of RAM and the Moto G only has 1GB.

Storage - In this case the Moto X triumphs over the Motorola G in storage. While the latter comes with 8GB and 16GB of on-board storage, the Moto X features 16GB and 32Gb of storage. Unfortunately for both there is no microSD card support as Google is trying to let customers utilize its cloud storage services.

Battery - The Motorola G offers 2,070mAh while the Moto X has a 2,200mAh battery. It looks as though the Moto X wins this round but it could be argued that the Motorola G’s quad-core processor is better at battery management than the Moto X.

Camera - This round hands down goes to the Moto X, which features a 10-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. The Motorola G only features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera.

While both the Moto G and Moto X seem to run neck and neck with each other there are a few key differences that make the Moto X better, the first being the Moto Maker option. A turning point for the Moto G however is the price. The Moto X is available as an unlocked device for $369.99, while the Moto G will be sold $200. The Moto X is a more advanced smartphone than the Moto G in most respects but if price is an issue you can’t go wrong with Motorola Moto G.
