The murder-suicide that left a mother and her two children dead could be foul play, her family claims. It is believed that the young mother strangled her 5-year-old daughter Navya Dahiya and 40-day-old son. She was found hanged in her marital home by her husband. No charges have been filed as the police continue to investigate the deaths.

25-year-old Priya Dahiya was alone in her home in Uttar Pradesh, India with her two children. Her husband, Arvind Dahiya had stepped out of the Ghaziabad home to buy milk on Sunday, July 18 around 5:00 p.m. When he returned, he found Navya and Priya hanged in their room. He discovered his son unconscious on the bed.

Arvind took his wife and children to GTB hospital where they were pronounced dead. After the news of his family’s death, the man reportedly called his brother, Amit, Times of India reported. He told his brother that his wife had taken her life after killing their children. He told the brother that he was going to commit suicide and his last rites should be performed with his family.

Amit alerted the police. Arvind’s family as well as the police started the search for the man. He was eventually found unconscious near the GTB hospital on Monday at around 4:00 a.m. Admitting him to the hospital, police are awaiting his condition to improve so that he can be questioned. The bodies of the woman and children have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Police are investigating the deaths. They believe that Priya used a rope to strangle the infant, whose naming ceremony was due in a few days. After strangling her son, the mother used the same rope to hang her daughter. She then used a long piece of clothing to hang herself. Police have not ascertained the reason behind the murder-suicide.

However, Priya’s family claims the woman was a victim of foul play. They believe that Arvind was behind the death of his family. Millennium Post reported that the couple got married in 2014 despite the woman’s family objecting to the nuptials. Since they got married, the woman was subjected to domestic violence.

A close relative of the woman stated that Arvind was having an adulterous affair which Priya objected to. They also shared that the man used to beat his wife over dowry demands. The police assured the woman’s family that the case will be investigated keeping all angles under consideration.
