If you are not a Tequila fan, here are some Bourbon cocktails you can try for this month's celebrations. Shutterstock/JaroPienza

This month we celebrate the Independence of Mexico, Nicaragua, Costar Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and because Latinos know how to throw a party, we thought it would be a good idea to gather up more cocktail recipes for our readers to keep the party going throughout the month of September. Because we know Tequila is not everyone’s drink of choice and because it is National Bourbon Month, our friends at Diamond PR sent us their favorite bourbon cocktail recipes, which can be found in some of the best hotels in Florida. Enjoy!

.5 oz Sweet Vermouth

.25 ounce maple syrup

2 dashes Amargo Vallet

1 orange peel/zest

Add all liquid ingredients into a mixing glass (beaker style). Fill with ice and stir with the ice for 20 revolutions. Then quickly turn the glass right side up and add ice block. Pour the drink over the block into the glass. Peel a strip of zest from an orange and squeeze the ends together facing the glass allowing the oils from the orange to give the drink another aromatic layer. Take a smell of the drink as you enjoy your first sip.

Fun Fact: Bottled Heat / Clearwater Beach (Sandpearl Resort)

The classic beachfront Sandpearl Resort has reintroduced a tradition dating back to 1937. In those times, since the hotel lacked a property heating system, during cold fronts, the hotel offered “bottled heat” to guests through a nip of bourbon. In the current winter months, when the temperature is projected to dip below freezing, Sandpearl Resort places cards in each room with the story of “bottled heat” and an invitation to enjoy complimentary Maker’s Mark warmth at Caretta on the Gulf to ward away the chill. If you visit Sandpearl during warmer months, opt for a Maker’s Mark on the rocks to honor the tradition or try the mouthwatering Berkshire Pork Chop with Chipotle Bourbon Glaze.
