The Argentina government has declared a national holiday after their football team won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

After Argentina's stunning win against France at the FIFA World Cup finals on Sunday, Dec. 18, the Argentina government has declared a bank holiday on Tuesday, Dec. 20 so that the entire country can celebrate the win and "can express their deepest joy for the national team."

Argentina's national football team is set to celebrate their World Cup triumph in Buenos Aires at the Obelisk on Tuesday. Obelisk is the monument that is the traditional epicenter of sporting celebrations in Argentina, ESPN reported.

"The world champion squad will leave on Tuesday at noon for the Obelisk to celebrate the world title with the fans," the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said on its official Twitter account.

The Argentina team led by Lionel Messi, who beat France on Sunday, will arrive in the country in the early hours of Tuesday. They will spend the night at the federation's training center located near the airport.

"Argentina, here we come," AFA president Claudio Tapia said on his Twitter account.

Argentina beat France in the penalty shootout in a pulsating game that was labeled by many as one of the best finals in World Cup history.

The fans in Argentina are eagerly awaiting the team's arrival to continue the celebrations.

"I want to be in Argentina to see how crazy it is," Lionel Messi said. "I want them to wait for me, I can't wait to go there and enjoy it with them."

Argentina’s remarkable victory over France on Sunday also put an end to a 36-year World Cup drought for the nation. Argentina hadn’t won the FIFA World Cup since Diego Maradona and the team won the title in 1986.

Messi, who had declared before the World Cup in Qatar that the 2022 FIFA World Cup would be his last, won the Golden Ball for best player in the tournament. Meanwhile, Martinez was awarded the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper. Enzo Fernandez was adjudged the winner of the Best Young Player award. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe finished as the top scorer of the tournament with eight goals and received the Golden Boot.
