The Los Angeles Clippers are looking for answers and one of the first things they need to do is address their free agents. One notable name in the mix is Montrezl Harrell who is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

This means that the Clippers do not have a firm grip on the 26-year-old player who has been doing the unseen things for Los Angeles. He is coming off a two-year $12 million deal and a big pay raise is expected. The only question is if this will come from the Clippers or some other team.

The Clippers and Harrell have a mutual interest in reaching a new deal in the offseason according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. However, it was also stated that the NBA Sixth Man will have multiple suitors. Hence, it may all boil down to what other teams may offer and the opportunity that comes with it.

Harrell is one of the overlooked players in Los Angeles. Most have paid more attention to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the two prized acquisitions from last season. Patrick Beverly has been singled out as well due to his hard-nosed defense and physicality. Harrell is doing his part and his role-playing focus is what any coach would love to have.

The Clippers have internal issues, something most claim is the reason behind their ouster. One instance had Harrell and George jawing when the former made an error in game 2. The whole thing has been shot down but it seems apparent that there is disharmony from within. So the better question, are Harrell and George ready to move on from that spat?

For someone of Harrell’s caliber, multiple teams could put him to good use. This includes the Phoenix Suns, Charlotte Hornets and the Toronto Raptors. But of the three, the deposed NBA champions seem like a logical landing spot.

The Clippers are considered contenders and it would make sense for Harrell to consider joining a team that can compete for the NBA title. Nick Nurse could help bring out the best in Harrell, something he has successfully proven.

The Hornets and the Raptors are worth considering if Harrell wants to help them pick up their competitive level. He could be one of the main stars for either club. However, there is no assurance of success.

The best Harrell can do is check out the roster and listen to what these teams have planned. He should also consider the player composition and then decide on what is best for him moving forward.
