The Atlanta Falcons are in must-win mode tonight as they host the New York Jets. They're trying to avoid their first three-game losing streak since 2007, when they lost six games in a row. They've been hit hard by injuries in the first month of the 2013-2014 season, and are hoping to keep alive their high expectations for the year. But the Jets say they're just as hungry for a win - even just as "desperate", as Jets linebacker Antwan Barnes told Newsday.

"We're desperate, too," he said. "We're 2-2 and we should've been 4-0." The Jets will be coming off a 38-13 Week 4 drubbing against the Tennessee Titans, and they've got a few men down from injuries themselves, namely Santonio Holmes, their top wideout. Jeremy Kerley will be starting in his place. Stephen Hill, their other top wideout, will be playing too, but might not be a hundred percent after having suffered a concussion only eight days ago. But they'll be playing without too much pressure on them, as Coach Rex Ryan's team enters Monday night as a heavy underdog.

The real pressure is on Atlanta, who haven't lost three straight since Matt Ryan came in as quarterback. The offense he leads has still been pretty powerful in spite of the team's 1-3 record. Its offense, as the New York Daily News notes, is ranked seventh overall in the league and fourth in passing. The Jets haven't faced opponents with offensive ratings that high yet this season. "I mean he's the heart of the team. He's the guy. If we get to him, (we can) cause a lot of disruption," defensive end Quinton Coples told the NY Daily News. "They rely on their pass heavily from watching them on film, and (we're) looking forward to stopping the pass."

But the biggest problem for Atlanta has been pushing the ball across into the end zone. They rank 29th in the league in touchdown percentage from inside the red zone. Last week, in their 30-23 loss to New England, they managed only one red-zone touchdown out of six red-zone possessions. "There's certainly a sense of urgency," Ryan told CBS New York. "We haven't started the way we wanted, but we understand it's a long season."
