Earlier this month, Nissan hinted that its next Z sports car will be leaner and more affordable than the current generation. However, Nissan has inexplicably announced a price hike for the 2013 model year Nissan Z.

For 2013, the Nissan 370Z sports car will receive a newly revised front fascia, new LED driving lights, a reshaped rear diffuser panel, new 18-inch wheels, and a new selection of paint colors.

The changes are incremental at best and its rather rare to see price hikes for mild facelifts. However, the 2013 Nissan 370Z will now start at $33,900, a $780 premium over the $33,120 retail price for the 2012. What's more, ticking some boxes on the options list will steadily raise the price even higher.

The 2013 Nissan 370Z Sport models with a manual transmission will start at $38,600, while a 7-speed automatic transmission option will stretch the price to $39,900. For 2013, the Sport Package will provide 370Z Touring models with new Rays lightweight 19-inch wheels, revised dampers, and red brake calipers.

No surprise, the 2013 370Z Roadsters are subject to the price hikes as well. A 2013 Nissan 370Z roadster with a standard automatic transmission starts at a retail price of $42,440, about a $970 increase over the 2012 model. Customers looking to buy a manual transmission 370Z Roadster will have to step up to the Touring trim, which retails at $45,140. Finally, the 7-speed automatic Touring Roadster will cost a whopping $46,440.

The range-topping hardcore 2013 370Z Nismo performance model will not get the new front fascia or the new paint options, but will feature a new set of 19-inch wheels. The hi-po Z will also offer high-rigidity brake hoses as well as performance-grade brake fluid, bumping the up the price by approximately $1360 over its 2012 price tag. The 2013 Nissan 370Z Nismo sports car will start at $43,800.
