The New Orleans Pelicans have a couple of stars that could make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers’ pursuit of a difference-maker in exchange for Ben Simmons. They are Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

However, seeing the Pelicans give up either is a bit farfetched right now although the case may be different for Williamson. The fact that the top pick of the 2019 NBA Draft has been struggling raises questions about his future in New Orleans.

But the only thing clear is that Ingram is not someone the Pelicans are willing to part ways with. This report comes from Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype who also added it is likewise shady if the alleged talks are being held due to the latest setback on the overweight Williamson.

Despite having Ingram and Williamson at the front, the Pelicans have hardly made progress as most had anticipated. They do have a big void in the guard position, something that Ben Simmons could ably void.

And while seeing a Simmons, Ingram, and Williamson trio is something, it is probably something that may only happen in a video game or fantasy league. There is no other top name from the Pelicans that the Sixers may be interested in other than Ingram or Williamson.

Hence, for now, it would be best to brand these alleged talks as nothing more than exploratory. There is no imminent signing that may take place.

For Simmons, this means his agony and wait will continue. Sixers’ president Daryl Morey has made it clear that he has no intention of approving a Simmons trade unless he gets a star-caliber player in exchange.

Philly is not interested in picks and wants a proven player. In the case of the Pelicans, Ingram and Williamson are the only ones that meet that criteria.
