Princess Eugenie has just been named as the first-ever member of the royal family to launch her own podcast. The venture is not necessarily regarded as a breach of protocol because the 29-year-old is not considered a working royal.

According to Hello! magazine, Freedom United was launched by Princess Eugenie with the help of her friend, Julia De Boinville. The latter is also involved in the royal’s charity The Anti-Slavery Collective.

While speaking with the publication, De Boinville explained why they decided to create a podcast that could help the billions of slaves across the globe. “Now is the time to talk about this, this is already on everyone's minds,” she said.

“If it isn't, we are making it on their minds. We are doing this for the person who can't scream and shout about their situation like we can,” she added.

According to De Boinville, there are approximately 40.3 billion slaves in the world today, and that’s the highest number in history. And since she and Princess Eugenie are aware of all the amazing charities in the United Kingdom and beyond, they thought of a way to highlight what they are doing to raise awareness.

“We met on the bus going on a school trip and we knew that this was just the beginning of a life-long adventure and friendship! After following each other around the world, then to Newcastle University, and into our careers; in 2012 we went on a trip to Kolkata, India,” De Boinville said.

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie’s upcoming podcast is not considered as a breach of royal protocol even though the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has not always followed the rules in the past. When she was much younger, Princess Eugenie was a hardcore partygoer.

And on her royal wedding to Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, 2018, she broke the royal protocol of serving traditional fruit cake. Instead, the princess opted for a red velvet cake with chocolate flavoring to serve to her guests.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding dress was also a break from royal tradition. Her back was exposed to show off her spine surgery from when she was still a young girl.
