One doesn’t usually see members of the royal family such as Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle use a cellphone in public, but that doesn’t mean they don’t own one. While they may have their own communication teams to handle announcements and press releases, they still use a trusty mobile device for their private communications, just like everyone else.

The query “What smartphones do members of the Royal Family use e.g. Prince Harry, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge?” was posted on the question-and-answer site Quora, probably by a fan who’s interested to know just what brand of phones these royals actually use. Interestingly, a user of the site actually managed to gather a few photos from different sources that show some royals using the smartphones of their choice.

For instance, William seems to be an iPhone fan. In one of the photos, which were posted by Quora user Sophie Oldfield, the second in line to the throne can be seen showing something on a white Apple smartphone to his dad, Prince Charles, and his brother, Prince Harry.

It’s likely that his wife, Kate Middleton, is an iPhone user as well. In another pic, William can be seen using an iPhone — a black one this time — as Kate watches on. It would certainly make sense to use the same brand of smartphone for compatibility.

Just like his older brother, Harry is an iPhone user as well. The Duke of Sussex has been photographed using the brand a couple of times, which is not a surprise considering that William uses it as well.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex toured Australia last year, fans also got a glimpse of Meghan’s cellphone. Meghan was holding a black smartphone as the royal couple disembarked from the place, and it has the “unmistakable oval mark of an iPhone X camera,” according to W Magazine.

Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty is known as one tech-savvy monarch who’s not afraid to try out the latest convenience that technology has to offer. It comes as no surprise then that she would also have a mobile phone of her own.

Unlike her grandchildren, Queen Elizabeth’s cellphone of choice is a slimline Samsung with a camera, as revealed by a royal butler to Daily Star. The gadget is small and light enough so she can easily carry it inside her purse.

Her Majesty has even downloaded a few apps on her phone, such as BBC News and Met Office weather. However, it’s unclear if the Queen still uses the same phone considering that Daily Star’s report was dated two years ago.
