Jasmine Crockett Fires Back at Trump's 'Low IQ' Remark

A reporter from The Atlantic revealed that she was removed from a rally by Rep. Jasmine Crockett for being a "top-notch hater" who "will spin."

In a piece recounting the incident, Elaine Godfrey described how a staffer approached her and, after checking she was in fact her, she was read a text.

"Elaine from Atlantic, white girl with a hat and a notepad. She's interviewing people in the crowd. She's a top-notch hater and will spin. She needs to leave," it read.

Godfrey noted that she had written a profile about Crockett last year, with which the lawmaker was not happy. In fact, Crockett told her she was "shutting down the profile and revoking all permissions."

The reporter went on to say that she was escorted by four guards, including one who was armed. Crockett and a spokesperson of hers have rejected the incident took place.

Speaking to CBS News, the lawmaker said "nothing like that happened" and took aim at Godfrey. "There is specific journalist who has a history of being less than truthful," Crockett said, adding that Godfrey has "been sued for defamation and lost before."

Godfrey stood by her claim, claiming that Crockett is "not known for calm restraint." "For the Democrats who are sick of their leaders wilting before President Trump like cut hydrangeas, Crockett is a refreshing exception. The two-term congresswoman has established herself as the most anti-MAGA candidate in the race and is unafraid to match the president's vulgarity with insults of her own," she added.

The Atlantic Editor In Chief Jeffrey Goldberg has stood by Godfrey. "In a democracy, elected officials answer questions from the press rather than hide from them," he said. "This is completely unacceptable behavior by Rep. Crockett and her team, and needs to be addressed immediately."

Crockett has also taken a combative approach to her primary against State Rep. James Talarico, recently releasing an add saying he "says the right things, but he doesn't practice what he preaches."

"He says he'll take on billionaires but a billionaire-funded super PAC is spending $5.4 million in dark money supporting him. He says he'll show up for Texas but he has missed over 900 votes like rural healthcare, education and school safety," says another passage of the add.

"Jasmine Crockett has taken on bullies from the courtroom to congress and won. Talarico is just talk, Crockett is all fight," it concludes.
