Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez were once the best of friends and shared a deep friendship as they were inseparable at one point in time. Things have changed, however, and reports claimed that they can even barely look at each other now.

Things were said to have gone awry between the two, and from what the current scenario looks like, the two aren’t meaning to patch up any time soon. Recently, Rihanna made a comment on the Super Bowl show that may be a taunt to Lopez and Shakira, who will be performing at the 2020 game’s half-time show in Miami.

“I couldn’t dare do that,” said Rihanna when asked about the gig with reference to the scandal in American football surrounding former star player Colin Kaepernick, who couldn’t find a club after coming under fire for protesting during the national anthem at games.

“For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organisation that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way,” added the 31-year-old star.

Many fans, however, are thinking that Rihanna was actually intending to shade J.Lo with her statements. As soon as her quote came out, the internet couldn’t help but speculate.

“The only part I really care about this story is the girl s**t,” said one fan. “You can be sure Riri hates JLo.”

“Ha ha ha! I’m wondering how much shade she’s also throwing at her one-time BFF, JLo?” said another.

However, E! News pointed out that when Rihanna made this statement in August 2019, Lopez wasn’t yet onboard for Super Bowl’s event. So the “Umbrella” singer may have not made the comment with either Lopez or Shakira in her mind.

RiRi and J.Lo were the best of friends until 2014, when the former unfollowed the latter on social media. Rumors were rife that Rihanna was mighty upset at Lopez’s closeness to her then on-and-off boyfriend Drake. The two reportedly haven’t spoken ever since.
