Canton, a quaint city that houses over 12,000 residents, witnessed a deadly shooting at a home in Miss. on Tuesday. The casualty -- which was a result of robbery -- claimed the lives of a pregnant woman, her brother, and a 1-year-old.

The victims were later identified as Martina Ramirez, 19, and Faustino Ramirez, 20. As per a WAPT-TV report, the gory incident was recalled by a witness who saw a miscreant bust open a door before clinching $2000 before opening fire.

"When the suspect left, (the witness) was able to see a slender-built Black male wearing dark clothing and a dark hat," said police chief Otha Brown.

Cops were alerted about the incident that occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time, by someone who was allegedly in hiding in the house at the time of the crime. Martina was found lying in a pool of blood in the bed, with a gunshot wound in her head. Ramirez was found bleeding on the floor, with a gunshot wound at the back of his head. The toddler who was shot in the right cheek was rushed to a hospital nearby where she's currently recuperating.

While a further probe is underway, the police chief believes that the motive was a robbery. There continues to be a steady uptick in the number of immigrants who've been living in Canton. The family in question was possibly robbed because they kept cash in hand. A video that was released by the chief about their understanding can be viewed here.
