Patrick J. Adams, and Zoe Saldana as Guy and Rosemary Woodhouse in "Rosemary's Baby," which is set to premiere on NBC on Sunday, May 11. NBC

NBC is revamping the iconic story of “Rosemary’s Baby” with all-new “reimagined” miniseries starring Zoe Saladana and Patrick J. Adams and if the trailer is any indication, an entirely new generation will be in for a fright. While the series is based off 1967 with Iran Levin’s best-selling novel, it will differ from the popularized movie version starring Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes that brought the terrifying tale to life in 1968.

The NBC version takes place in Paris as opposed to New York, however the overall plot seems to be very much the same and still as sinister. Saldana plays Rosemary, whose picturesque life in the city of lights gets even more perfect when her husband, played by Patrick J. Adams of “Suits” is given the career opportunity of a lifetime, from their accommodating neighbors. The couple’s neighbors are “rich French sophisticates who offer the young American couple their friendship and the use of a spare apartment in their ornate building in the Eighth Arrondissement,” according to the New York Times.

The story is set to be a frightening as the original, however there are some small changes in addition to the Parisian move. Instead of the meek and naïve housewife, which Mia Farrow portrayed as the original Rosemary, Saldana breathes new life into the role. No longer solely dependent on her erratic spouse, the modern day Rosemary supported both herself and her struggling writer husband as a successful dancer before the move to Paris, according to Adams. The more independent Rosemary is willing to accept help from her neighbors mainly due to her move to Paris. She is young, and American, meaning she has no knowledge of the language or new landscape, which makes the close relationship more plausible.

Be sure to tune in to NBC on Sunday, May 11 at 9 p.m. to watch the first part of “Rosemary’s Baby,” then the second and final episode will premiere on Sunday, May 15 at 9p.m. Check out NBC.com for sneak peek videos, interviews with the cast and behind the scene looks at the all-new “Rosemary’s Baby.”
