Ryan Gosling making his directorial debut with the film “Lost River” in which his girlfriend and the mother of their daughter, Eva Mendes, will star in as a lady of the night. The movie is about a single mother (Christina Hendricks) who lives in sort of post-apocalyptic city with her two sons who’ve discovered a lost world under the river so they live in mystery and suspense. The first trailer of the film shows Mendes at work, advising Hendricks on how to survive before she appears with her face covered in blood!

Mendes told Variety Latino working with Gosling had been the most special experience of her career: “It’s incredible… he has a very creative set. He’s constantly asking, not only the actors, but the costume specialists, or whomever is in charge of the lights, what they think of this and that… plus we feel very comfortable sharing our ideas. Not many directors are like that,” Mendes gushed of her longtime partner.

You might’ve heard about the film by its original name, “How To Catch a Monster” but it’s been changed to “Lost River” just in time for its digital release as well as a theatrical one in Los Angeles and New York, after having premiered in the 2014 Cannes International Film Festival. “The theatrical and digital release plan provides the best of both worlds. It allows those who are interested in seeing my film in a theater to do so without excluding the majority of people who don't have access to a specialty cinema," said Gosling through a statement last Tuesday.
