“Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds revealed how he got his friend Brad Pitt to make a cameo in “Deadpool 2.” The film premiered in May 2018 and featured Pitt as Vanisher, whose face was briefly shown when the X-Force’s parachute plummeted following his electrocution.

In “Deadpool 2,” Vanisher was one of the titular character’s invisible allies from the X-Force, a group of mutant rogues assembled by Wade Wilson to protect a young boy from the villainous Cable. In the scene where the X-Force’s parachute dropped, Vanisher’s face was revealed to be Pitt’s.

In an interview shortly after “Deadpool 2” hit theaters, Reynolds revealed how he convinced Pitt to make a brief appearance in the film. According to Reynolds, he wrote a personal letter to Pitt to pitch the idea and to get him to say yes.

“I just wrote him a letter, and explained what it was we were doing,” said Reynolds. “And the sort of premise behind it was how do we, what’s the most wasteful way to use the biggest movie star in the world? And it was through a character that is largely invisible and worthless throughout the movie,” he added.

Reynolds revealed that Pitt was instantly so game to do the cameo. “And I guess Brad found that funny, we all found that funny,” said Reynolds. “And he said yes. And the next thing you know he came and shot for about seven minutes.”

The actor went on to reveal that Pitt’s cameo was one of the most exciting parts of the film, especially for the cast and crew of “Deadpool 2.” “He’s just such a gentleman, and such a funny, charming human being. And parenthetical the biggest movie star on earth. And that was pretty exciting for all of us,” he said.

In a separate interview, “Deadpool 2” screenwriter Paul Wernick revealed how Pitt immediately said yes to Ryan Reynolds. “It was a pinch-me moment,” he said, adding that the actor was so willing to do the role for practically nothing. Reynolds revealed at the Comic-Con 2018 that Pitt only asked for a cup of coffee in exchange for his cameo appearance in the film.
