With iconic landmarks, art museums, Broadways, and delicious pizza, a trip to New York is always exciting. However, when 2-time consecutive world champion Sebastian Vettel came to visit, he didn't have time to do much of that at all.
Last week, we reported that Vettel was scheduled to visit the Formula One Grand Prix of America circuit at Weehawken, New Jersey's Port Imperial. As part of the weekend's marketing and events, Vettel is joined with former Red Bull racing driver David Coulthard as reporters climbed aboard the duo's pair of Infiniti IPL G road car to be driven around the developing circuit.
Completely closing off the streets for the event, the pair of Infinitis flew around the circuit in typical Formula 1 swagger, accelerating to speeds exceeding 85 mph on the street and oftentimes kicking the tail out around corners.
According to a story from NJ.com, David Coulthard compared Weehawken's elevation changes to the course in Monaco. Vettel appreciates the elevation climbs as well, comparing it to Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps. Mentioned in the same sentence to these legendary tracks, New Jersey is shaping up to be a modern classic.
2-time-consecutive World Champion Sebastian Vettel appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman as well, tying up his NY/NJ tour.
Asked difficult questions from "What is KERS?" and "What is DRS?" to "What part of Germany are you from?", Vettel took it all in stride and was a wonderful ambassador for Formula 1 as his humor and charm had won the audience during the show.
