A new world record has been set in Vera, Spain on Sunday after 729 exhibitionists went clothing-free for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea in an attempt to break the skinny dipping world record and in turn, have given beachgoers an eyeful. The endeavors of the 729 nude swimmers for the international Day Without Swimsuits was successful, as they surpassed the previous world record set last year by New Zealand where 506 festivalgoers skinnydipped.

The event in Vera Spain, according to the Europa Press, expected 600 people at Playa El Playazo beach but the extra attendees helped set the record. The Mayor of Vera, José Carmelo Jorge, called the the mass nude swim a "tremendous success."

The event was organized by the town of Vera in collaboration with the Spanish Naturism Federation. The event took place around noon and the fund raised by the event will be donated to charity. The effort was made to help attract tourism to the city of Vera.

By Guiness Standards, the world record for "largest skinny dipping (swimming naked)" was set by the 413 people in South Wales, U.K., in June 2011. Last December, a group of naked swimmers attempted to break the record in New Zealand, but they did not qualify for Guiness status since they were split between two different beaches.
