Snapchat will soon take cues from apps like Instagram and Pinterest by adding in-app shopping. The app is currently looking into the option as a way to further expand its Discover feature, which already incorporates third-party media content from sites like Vice, CNN, MTV and Sports Illustrated.

Cosmo EIC and Snapchat board member Joanna Coles said at Re/code’s Code/Media event that the apps channel Sweet will "morph into an e-commerce platform so you will be able to buy from it."

The channel already features a number of products from brands with corresponding prices and descriptions, which makes adding in-app purchasing an easy and good fit.

For comparisons sake photo sharing platform Instagram became shoppable with its own buy button last June, while Pinterest rolled out buyable pins and opened its own curated shop named, The Pinterest Shop.

The app also recently added other features like price alerts when the items you pin go on sale plus a visual search function so you can buy the exact item you liked in a pin.
