After Fiat launched its 500 into the North American market, the Italian automaker followed up by launching the 500 Abarth, a campaign that closely mirrors that of the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S. Perhaps after measuring the success of the Mini Countryman, Fiat is prepared to reveal its latest compact crossover, the 500X.
Still a concept, the 500X prototype's blacked out windows leave the interior much to the imagination. According to CarsUK, the 500X is likely a raised variant of the 500L and should share identical 1.4 liter gasoline and 1.3 liter diesel engine options. Stylistically, the 500X features the signature quad-headlights and also carries over familiar looking shapes for the taillight. What's more, the stepped roof treatment is gone as well, something that was seen on the 500L and have also been featured on the Mini. Finally, in terms of size and dimensions, expect the 500X to closely compare to the size of the Mini Countryman.
Industry observers expect an official Fiat 500X unveiling at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show.
