Super Bowl LI was the second Super Bowl game held at the NRG Stadium, with the last time being in 2004, when the Patriots won over the Carolina Panthers. For Houston it was also the third time the championship game was held in the city, having previously been held at Rice Stadium in 1974 when the Miami Dolphins bested the Minnesota Vikings.
