Unfortunately, living in today’s society almost every week another black man becomes a hashtag. Most recently, 31 year old Terrence Sterling was shot and killed by D.C. Police officers after he was allegedly accused of fleeing from them. Now new footage has been released of Sterling’s final moments alive.

On the video, Officer Brian Trainer, the shooter, is seen on the video trying to resuscitate Sterling. Trainer claims that Sterling charged his car while on his bike and he was forced to get out of his cruiser and unload his weapon in self-defense. As a warning, please be advised that this video is extremely graphic.

Eyewitnesses say that the officer fired from his car and was not in immediate danger, saying that Sterling was not aiming for the police vehicle. This of course counters what police officers at the scene of the crime are saying. Adding salt to the wound, if you listen to the video you hear the voice of a frantic woman, screaming saying that he wasn’t even aiming his bike at the officers.

As of right now no charges have been filed against Trainer and he is currently on administrative leave. The shooting is currently still under review by the Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

At this point, we honestly will not be surprised if no charges are filed. Even with video evidence and eyewitness accounts, justice is never served for the families and the African- American community. Many celebrities and entertainers such as Colin Kaepernick, Oprah Winfrey, Taraji P. Henson and countless others have spoken out about the rise of murders against unarmed black men but law enforcement officials are doing little to nothing.

Sterling has been described as a man that is very kind, willing to help anyone and was excited about life and his budding career as an air conditioning technician.

Our deepest and sincerest condolences go out to the family of Terrence Sterling.
