Fans have always been fascinated by the glamorous and luxurious lifestyle of their favorite royals. For instance, Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — the most popular royals — have always been photographed with the exquisite interior decors of their various palaces and castles as background.

There are numerous palatial homes that are available for use by Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family. Below are just a few of the most luxurious palaces and castles currently used by the Queen and her family.

Buckingham Palace

The Palace is perhaps the most recognizable residence for the Queen and some of her family members. The reason for this is that it is Her Majesty’s official residence, and its London location is ideal for hosting functions of the highest importance, such as when entertaining visiting dignitaries.

According to the Royal Family’s official site, the Palace has a total of 775 rooms, which include 19 staterooms, 52 luxurious royal and guest rooms, as well as 188 rooms for the staff. It also has 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.

Balmoral Castle

Balmoral Castle is another royal residence that fans might be familiar with. It is the Queen’s favorite destination every summer and sits on a spacious 20,000-hectare property, which is privately owned by the monarch.

“It’s the most beautiful place on earth,” Princess Eugenie, Prince Andrew’s daughter, once said. “I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands.”

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle’s profile is likely familiar to fans as well because it is where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding took place. The castle is also Queen Elizabeth’s weekend getaway.

Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace is the official residence of Prince William and Kate and their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. To be exact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge live in the Palace’s apartment 1A, a suite that has 21 rooms and occupies four floors.

There are other royals who live in the Palace, such as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, as well as the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. However, it’s not a crowded arrangement at all as the Palace is huge with a total of 547 rooms.

Sandringham House

Fans might have encountered the royal residence Sandringham House in one of the numerous articles written about the royal family. Located in Norfolk, it sits at the heart of the huge 8,000-hectare Sandringham estate.

The residence is privately owned by the royal family. The Queen and Prince Philip spend most of their time in this luxurious country house when not in London.

Palace Of Holyroodhouse

Located in Edinburgh, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is Her Majesty’s official residence in Scotland. It used to be a monastery and later became the apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots. Queen Elizabeth usually spends a week in the residence at the beginning of each summer.

Highgrove House

This is Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ private residence, which is located in Tetbury. Highgrove House is known for its stunning gardens, which are open to the public on selected dates.

Clarence House

Clarence House is the official residence of Prince Charles and Camilla. It was also the residence of then Princess Elizabeth shortly after she married Philip.
