'That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime' 2021 Updates: Will There Be A Season 3?

Fans of “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” are treated with a split-cour season 2 of the anime this year and a spin-off series called, “The Slime Diaries.” But, where does “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” season 3 leave them?

For now, there has been no official announcement for a third installment of the series.

Part 1 of season 2 ends with Rimuru discovering Eurazania destroyed and the people taking refuge at Tempest. Veldora was set free and Rimuru gave him a body like that to his.

While the anime series is on a break, the audience is indulged with a 12-episodic, comedic spin-off series that runs outside the main plot. Instead, it focuses on Rimuru and his friends’ adventures.

“The Slime Diaries” premiered on April 6, 2021, and will conclude on June 22, 2021, just in time for the second half of season 2 to premiere in July. The second part of the installment will pick up with Rimuru’s intent on defeating Demon Lord Frey.

Rimuru had just regained his consciousness and so all of his apprentices as well. After taking the residents of the burnt kingdom, he discovered that Clayman might be behind the attack on Eurazania.

Fans will have to wait until the second part of season 2 is launched. It’s too soon to say that the series will have a season 3.

Season 2 was initially scheduled to air in October 2020 but was pushed to January 2021 due to the pandemic. The second part of Season 2 was intended to be broadcasted in April 2021 but was rescheduled in July 2021.

According to Oricon, the light novel series was hailed as the fifth best-selling title of 2018 and the manga was slated in ninth place. “That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime” is the first manga series based on a light novel published over at least 20 million total copies in print.

During the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2019, Rimuru won Best Protagonist. Earlier this month, it has been announced that manga adaptation has been nominated for the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shonen category.

Only time can tell if the studios are given a green light for a third season. So far, the light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah is still ongoing.
