There's always a viral Internet photo trend -- from planking to selfies -- and now there's a new one involving topless travel photos.
Reportedly created by travelers Olivia Edginton, Lydia Buckler, and Ingvild Marstein Olsen, the "Topless Tour Project" supports travelers to share topless photos while traveling. According to their Facebook page, the project will be "uniting people across the globe to feel the freedom and share their beauty with the world."
How does one get involved? By posting a topless picture that snaps an image from behind, of travelers' backs, in a beautiful travel location. Currently, the project's Instagram page has over 15,000 followers.
"The Topless Tour is the opening of your bare chest and heart to the world," Edginton told the Daily Mail. "It sounds really cheesy on paper, but it really connects you with the people you love. The experience is a whirlwind of different emotions and it’s so nice to share it with others."
Be warned; however, that many international tourist destinations won't take kindly to nudity in tourist locations. Take Machu Picchu, for example. Last year, Peruvian daily El Comercio reported that a video of two tourists streaking through the Incan ruins was uploaded. After going viral, several copycats have been spotted and upon further investigation, it has been revealed that tourists have been getting nude at the historic site for a while now. In fact, there are blogs and Facebook pages devoted to it.
"Before the publication of a photograph showing two naked people in the National Archeological Park of Machu Picchu, the Culture Cusco clarified that the photographic material was recorded illegally in November 2013 and the tourists involved were operated immediately by park rangers who reported the incident to the Joint district Attorney Machupicchu, Maria Teresa Huaco Kateriana," wrote the Ministry of Culture at the time, in response to the video.
