President Donald Trump said the United States has the military resources to sustain the war with Iran indefinitely while suggesting the conflict will end based on his own judgment rather than a fixed timeline.

In an interview with Fox News Radio, Trump said the U.S. possesses "virtually unlimited ammunition" and could continue military operations as long as necessary. "Nobody has the technology or the weapons that we have," he said. "We're way ahead of schedule." He added that the United States has "virtually unlimited ammunition" and that the military effort could continue indefinitely. "We can go forever."

At the same time, Trump declined to provide a clear timetable for the end of the conflict. Asked how he would determine when the war is over, the president said the decision would ultimately come down to instinct. "When I feel it, feel it in my bones," the president said.

The comments come as the administration has sent mixed signals about the likely duration of the war, which began earlier this year following coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iranian military infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Some officials have suggested the campaign could last days, while others have warned it could continue for months.

Earlier in the week, Trump told Axios that the conflict could end soon because there is "practically nothing left to target." However, U.S. and Israeli officials have indicated that military planners are preparing for at least two more weeks of strikes and have not received a directive to halt operations.

Trump later told leaders of the Group of Seven that Iran was "about to surrender," even as intelligence assessments concluded the Iranian government remains in control and is not currently at risk of collapse.

Iranian officials have signaled they intend to continue the fight with Iranian state television broadcasting a message attributed to the country's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, vowing to maintain attacks on U.S. bases in the region and warning that additional "fronts" could open if the conflict persists. He also reiterated Tehran's threat to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told Politico through a statement that the campaign will continue until its objectives are achieved:

"Operation Epic Fury will continue until President Trump, as Commander-in-Chief, determines that the goals of Operation Epic Fury, including for Iran to no longer pose a military threat, have been fully realized"
