Melania Trump just probably wanted to start the year right by acknowledging the positive things that happened last year and pledging to do better in her Be Best campaign this year. Unfortunately for President Donald Trump’s wife, her critics took note of her Twitter post resulting in a barrage of vicious responses on the platform.

“#2019 was a successful year! It was a privilege to meet so many incredible people,” Melanie Trump tweeted, according to Express. “As we head into the New Year, I will continue speaking with children and encouraging them to #BeBest.”

The Be Best campaign is First Lady Melania Trump’s initiative that aims to teach children the major issues they face today such as online safety, well-being, and opioid abuse. “It remains our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility and help our children manage the many issues they are facing today, including encouraging positive social, emotional, and physical habits,” the FLOTUS wrote on the campaign’s website.

Unfortunately, Melania Trump’s critics had some harsh words for her mainly because of her relation to Donald Trump. “For heaven’s sake!” one critic wrote. “She’s a horrible example for kids! She tells them not to bully, but she’s married to one, and defends him in exchange for a posh lifestyle.”

Another critic even referred to the POTUS as a child in the Oval Office. “How about speaking to that child in the Oval Office and encouraging HIM to #BeBest?” wrote an angered netizen. “Oh right, I forgot, you’re complicit and really don’t care.”

One comment even criticized Donald Trump’s immigration policy. “Successful year?” a critic asked. “Excuse me, but aren't YOU an illegal immigrant also? Shouldn't you be in a cage too? Just asking.”

Many are upset over President Trump’s tweets about the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg. Last year, critics accused the POTUS of mocking Thunberg when he tweeted about the latter winning Time’s Person of the Year, according to The Washington Post.

“So ridiculous,” Donald Trump tweeted on December 12, 2019. “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

His tweeted provoked numerous tweets accusing the President of bullying a child. “He can’t bully @SpeakerPelosi, so he’s trying to bully a teenager,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer commented on the platform.

“What kind of president bullies a teenager? @realDonaldTrump, you could learn a few things from Greta on what it means to be a leader,” former vice president Biden wrote.

As a result of her husband’s tweet, Melania Trump was dragged into the spotlight as well. Many are questioning the FLOTUS why she can’t talk sense into her husband when it is her advocacy to prevent online abuse of children.
