Dominic Raab, U.K.’s secretary of state for Foreign and Commonwealth affairs, might soon take overall charge of the government as Boris Johnson temporarily steps aside to focus on his receding health condition.

As soon as the news broke, Raab took to inform people of the United Kingdom that all was well, and the government business will continue. Raab spoke to BBC and revealed that plans were afoot to ensure that things were streamlined and went as per the plan.

Johnson, who was tested positive in the coronavirus, was shifted to the intensive care unit at St. Thomas Hospital, London at 7 pm, Monday. A source close to the Prime Minister says Johnson’s conditioned worsened in the afternoon, which led to him being shifted to a special unit where he’s receiving optimum treatment—for a quick recovery. Johnsons’ fiancée who exhibited symptoms of the highly infectious virus, is said to have been extremely anxious about Boris’s deteriorating health ever since he was tested positive.

Support flooded in from various world leaders, wishing Johnson a speedy recovery. Expressing his concern, Trump stated, “We’re very saddened to hear that [Johnson] was taken into intensive care this afternoon, a little while ago, and Americans are all praying for his recovery. He’s been a really good friend. He’s been really something very special: strong resolute doesn’t quit, doesn’t give up.”

Enthusing how he’s gotten two organizations to get to work immediately, Trump added, “They’ve really advanced therapeutics ... and they have arrived in London already, the London office has whatever they need. We’ll see if we can be of help. We’ve contacted all of Boris’s doctors, and we’ll see what is going to take place, but they are ready to go.” Sever other ministers have opined that Johnson should sit back, relax and look after himself while the others take on more responsibilities.

While things are nowhere close to stabilizing in the United Kingdom; Chris Whitty, the chief medical officer believes it is important to exercise caution in the face of the health crisis and maneuver through the pandemic with a step-by-step approach. Going by the current statistics, the death toll in the U.K. saw a monstrous jump—rising by 439 to 5,373.
