Steam users will soon be able to listen to their favorite songs or playlist while they game with Steam Music, Valve recently announced. According to the announcement the new service allows users to browse their favorite collection in Album and Artist views once they have linked their local music directory with steam. The new feature allows user to grab music from their own computer’s hard drive and from there Steam Music will organize and layout your entire music library, which looks similar to Apple iTunes layout. With Steam Music users will able to play songs and albums which they can access through their controller's guide button or from the main menu in Steam Big Picture. Other features include the ability to create and manage playlists, also sort a library by album and artist.

The beta for Steam Music will soon be rolling out to the Big Picture and SteamOS interface, which include desktop functionality reportedly “soon to follow.” If you are interested in trying out the Steam Music beta join the Steam Music group on Steam Community.
