Adam Levine, one of the original judges who’ve been with “The Voice” since the first season, would no longer be appearing on the show’s 17th season. The Maroon 5 singer’s replacement will be Blake Shelton’s girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and the show’s fans are divided on the change of judges.

Adam Levine’s departure from “The Voice” was announced last week by Carson Daly on NBC’s morning show “Today.” “He’ll always be a cherished member of the Voice family,” the host said.

The Maroon 5 singer posted a message on Instagram thanking everyone he has worked with throughout the 16 seasons. “About 8 years ago, Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned away from the singers on the stage. First thank you must go to Mark,” Levine started his post lengthy.

He went on to describe how surprised he was on how “The Voice” turned out to be. “After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned,” he continued his post. “I said to myself ‘theres some magic here. Something is definitely happening.’ It went on to be a life shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”

He also thanked NBC, as well as the coaches he has worked with. “Thank you NBC for signing me up,” the singer wrote. “I am truly honored to have been a part of something I’ll always cherish for the rest of my life.”

Of course his fellow “The Voice” judge had to be mentioned. “And, BLAKE FUCKIN’ SHELTON. I couldn’t hide my love for you if I tried,” Levine added. “Seriously. I tried. Can’t do it. Our friendship is and always will be one for the books.” Shelton and Levine are among the four original judges who were with the show when it started, the other two being Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

While Shelton was definitely saddened by Levine’s departure, he won’t be too depressed about it for long. The reason is that he will now be with his girlfriend, Stefani, who will be replacing Levine.

However, some people are not convinced that Gwen Stefani would be a good replacement for Levine. Stefani is actually one of the least popular “The Voice” judges based on a Ranker page titled “The Best Coaches On ‘The Voice,’” where she was ranked 10th out of the 12 coaches mentioned on the site.

There are also concerns that Stefani and Shelton might have some relationship problems or might even breakup while in the mid of Season 17’s run. As they are singers, not actors, viewers will definitely feel the accompanying tension in the air, which might make the show a bit awkward to watch.
