AMC's "The Walking Dead" has officially found its Negan according to EW. The website has confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Grey's Anatomy," "Supernatural") will play the franchises most vicious and iconic villain.
The search for Negan has been quite extensive going all the way back to last year. Many names were circulating the rumor mill including "Mad Men's" Jon Hamm, Henry Rollins and Kevin Durand. The Hollywood Reporter says Negan and his signature weapon, a barb-wired bat named Lucille, will be introduced in the sixth season finale, which will be directed by Greg Nicotero.
Morgan is currently playing a complicated investigator named Jason Crouse on CBS’ "The Good Wife," but the role is not expected to get in the way of his new gig on "The Walking Dead."
Meanwhile, Ross Marquand - who plays the Alexandria recruiter, Aaron - recently opened up about the season six finale revealing it's the darkest and most emotional script he's ever read.
"I was just talking to Andy [Lincoln] about [the finale] the other day and I looked at him because I hadn't seen him since I read it and I said, 'What'd ya think?'" Marquand shared in an interview with ComicBook.com. "We both literally just threw our hands up in the air and we were like, 'This is the craziest thing ever, right?'"
"I think it's probably the most rot, like emotionally rot, and dark episode I've ever read, regardless of this show or not," the 34-year-old actor added of the finale. "I've never seen or read an episode that is so dark and so compelling in my life and that's the God's honest truth."
In fact, Marquand revealed the script is so dark and twisted that he had to stop reading several times.
"I told Andy, I don't normally get so affected by scripts that I have to put them down, but I had to stop reading this at three different times," he said. "I couldn't read it, it was messing me up. It was tough to read. It's phenomenal writing but it's just so emotionally dark and twisted that we had to put it down several times."
Given that Negan will make his debut during the season six finale and the actors are saying it will be the darkest episode yet, we can only assume that the character will live up to his dastardly and violent reputation.
