Rafael Cruz, father of Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) spoke at an Oklahoma gun rights gathering and said that atheism leads to perversion and pedophilia, the Raw Story reports. Cruz senior raged against atheism and secular humanism, which he suggested were leading our society to the brink of destruction. "Let's look, for example, at the behavioral consequences of these two foundations," Cruz said to the group. "Well, if there is nothing, if there is no God, then we are ruled by our instincts." The 74-year-old Evangelical pastor has come to the spotlight for his extremist views.

Senator Cruz who has been an outspoken anti-Obamacare advocate, has not commented on his father's outburst. Rafael Cruz, who is of Cuban-American said: "There is no moral absolute, which means we operate by situational ethics," he said, "which unfortunately is something being taught in every high school in America." Cruz senior went on to explain that situational ethics is just a from of "moral relativism" and thus, without moral absolutes, atheism inevitably "leads us to sexual immorality, leads us to sexual abuse, leads us to perversion and, of course, no hope. No hope!"

This is not the first time Cruz Senior has made incendiary conservative comments. Back in February, the pastor spoke at the FreedomWorks summit. In his speech, the evangelical Cuban said "Hispanics [are] uninformed or deceived...well, the same thing is true of the black population." He also suggested that, despite an overwhelming Hispanic support for Democrat candidates, all Latinos should vote Republican because they are "highly religious, strongly pro-family [and] strongly pro-life."
