The Dominican Day Parade in NYC will take place on Sunday, August 14, 2016. This is a festive occasion celebrating Dominican tradition, heritage and folklore in the streets of New York. The mission of the Dominican Day Parade of New York City is to celebrate the richness of the Dominican culture, folklore and popular traditions. The Parade highlights, promotes, and acknowledges the heritage and contributions of the Dominican community in America and throughout the world.

This year's theme is "Celebrating and Empowering Dominican Women," in honor of the Mirabal Sisters and looking to celebrate extraordinary women working in a variety of fields including the arts, community service, technology and worker's unions. This includes "La Madrina," Daisy Auger-Dominguez, Head of Global Diversity Staffing at Google, and the first time the parade honors a Dominican woman in a corporate leadership role at one of the world’s most valuable public companies. Furthermore, this historical moment in the parade’s trajectory is further punctuated by Juan Luis Guerra's first-ever participation in the march as the Grand Marshal.

The parade will start on 6th Avenue and 36th street at 12p.m., and will go all the way up to 52nd. It is expected to be a colorful celebration full of rhythm, songs, dancing and a lot of joy.
