Since marrying into the royal family, Meghan Markle has made headlines because of her highly controversial protocol-breaking decisions. Because of this, many wonder if Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family even care about what she does anymore, especially when it comes to those who break the royal family’s traditional customs.

Despite the intense media scrutiny they face, the royal family still manages to keep most of their affairs private. In fact, the Palace seldom releases its official statements on matters concerning the members of the royal family, including Prince William’s cheating scandal and Meghan’s family drama. That means that even though Queen Elizabeth seems not to care at all about Meghan’s rule-breaking decisions, many believe that she and the rest of the royal family are not okay with Meghan’s doings.

According to a royal expert, it’s difficult to tell which of Meghan’s behaviors Queen Elizabeth minds and which she doesn’t. The Queen is known to be very tolerant of many things but really strict about others, especially when it comes to royal customs. As for the other royals, Prince William is allegedly the one who cares the most.

“I think Prince Philip will mind a lot, but he has retired and so he is unlikely to be influential, except to the Queen,” the royal expert said. “Charles knows he is unpopular, and will embrace the things that Meghan does if the public is in favor. Ann will be furious, if any of the rumors about her personality are true. Edward won’t care — no one knows what he does all day, and since he and Sophie made so many public relations gaffes, they have been out of the limelight,” he added.

However, Prince William, according to the royal expert, is probably the most upset of them all. Prince William has reportedly been unsupportive of Prince Harry’s pursuit of Meghan Markle since they started dating, and the rift between the brothers started when Prince Harry decided to leap into marriage with Meghan before he even got to know her. “It has gone so far now that the public is really sad about the breakup of the brothers,” the royal expert said.

Another royal expert noted that despite the royal family’s silence, it’s clear that all of them are not happy with Meghan’s rule breaking and lack of understanding when it comes to royal protocol. The Duchess of Sussex clearly does not want to embrace tradition, and while the royal PR crew makes people believe all is well, it is reportedly not behind closed doors.

“We can all see that the other royals are distancing themselves from Harry and Meghan,” the royal expert said. “I fear that Harry hopes the distancing from them by other royals will subside, when in fact you can’t force people to want to be close to someone they don’t like, for whatever reason,” he added.
