Most people might be done with their respective holiday shopping but it’s not uncommon to miss an item or two. After all, the weekend before Christmas is usually the busiest time for the entire year, based on National Retail Foundation forecasts so it’s easy to forget some items in one’s shopping list due to the uncomfortable overcrowding in shopping malls.

Unfortunately, some of the well-known names in retail will be closing up shop on Christmas Day. These include Wallmart, The Home Depot, Target, LDI, Burlington, Costco, Michaels, Publix, Stop & Shop and Whole Foods, according to Good Housekeeping.

Meanwhile, selected locations of these establishments will remain open on December 25. These include Acme, Albertsons, Cumberland Farms, CVS, Family Dollar, QuickChek, 7-Eleven, Walgreens, and Rite Aid.

There are also a number of restaurants that choose to remain open for those who prefer to dine out rather than cook at home.

1. Huddle House: This restaurant, known for its “Any Meal. Any Time” catchphrase, is living up to its reputation. The business will stay open for the entire Christmas Day so hungry folks can come in any time they want to get their hands on its signature “Big House” Meals, according to CountryLiving.

2. Ryan's: For those craving for a buffet on Christmas Day, Ryan’s will open on December 25 and will be serving its signature buffet meals.

3. Village Inn: Another option for Christmas Day dining is Village Inn. They’ll remain open on December 25 and will continue to serve their delicious pies, sandwiches, salads, and classic dinners and breakfasts.

4. Domino’s Pizza: Fortunately for pizza-lover, selected Domino’s Pizza branches will be open on December 25. Since not every branch outlet will open for business, it’s best to give them a call to confirm before heading out.

5. McDonald’s: “Only a handful of McDonald’s restaurants open of Christmas Day,” the fast-food giant’s site stated. Since most of its stores are independently owned and operated, those that decide to open will likely have different store hours.

6. Denny’s: Denny’s will remain 24/7 during the holiday season. They are even offering the limited-time menu “Festive Flavors” which is only available until January 7.
