Kate Middleton is being accused of copying another royal’s wedding dress. The Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot with Prince William on April 29, 2011.

On the online forum site Quora, royal fans shared their thoughts regarding the mom of three’s wedding dress. They said that the gown, which was designed by Alexander McQueen, had similarities with the gown worn by Isabella Orsini when she wed Prince Edouard Lamoral de Ligne in 2009.

Sophie Oldfield, a resident of the United Kingdom, uploaded a photo of the two wedding gowns. It appears as though the laced sleeves and collar are quite similar to each other. The cut around the gowns’ chest is also similar.

However, the two female royals’ dresses also have huge differences. For instance, Kate Middleton’s gown had floral prints and laces up to the hem, while Orsini’s gown doesn’t have any details. The cut around the waist of the two dresses is also very different.

Nigel Boon, a retired vicar from the Church of England, said that royal fans should evaluate Kate’s position when she married Prince William. She was young and conscious. She was also aware that all eyes would be on her the minute she steps out of her wedding car. As such, it would be impossible for the Duchess of Cambridge to even consider copying someone else’s wedding gown.

Christine Smith, a retired educator, said that even though the two wedding dresses are quite similar to each other, she still preferred the one worn by Kate. After all, Kate’s dress is more detailed, and her skirt was also layered well. Smith also prefers Kate’s veil.

Laura Warwick, a former fundraiser, said that it is fairly common for wedding gowns to share similarities with each other. But she is confident that Kate got her dress design exactly the way she wanted it to look.

Kate and Prince William have been married for eight years. The couple celebrated their anniversary last month.
