Most royal followers believe that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s divorce would be far more devastating than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s. This is so because as far as the United Kingdom is concerned, Prince William and Kate splitting would have more far-reaching implications than Prince Harry and Meghan parting ways.

As royal couples, both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are always subject to intense scrutiny. That’s why even though both marriages seem totally fine, some can’t help but assume the worst about them.

Earlier this year, several rumors came out claiming that Prince William and Kate were on the brink of divorce. The rumors started following tabloid reports about Prince William’s alleged secret affair with Rose Hanbury. While Prince Harry and Meghan seem so in love when in public, some also assume that all the negative press about them will one day take its toll on their marriage, leading to a divorce.

Royal followers believe that if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex divorce at the same time, that of Prince William and Kate will be more devastating for the British public. Here’s why.

It Would Mean A Change In Leadership

Prince William is directly in line to the throne and is destined to be king. Thus, a divorce between him and Kate would mean a change in the future leadership in the UK.

While there’s no law that states that a divorced man can’t take the crown, Prince William divorcing Kate would put the Duke of Cambridge in a difficult position. Since it’s very rare for a king to rule without his queen, his predicament would be to make a choice between remarrying and ruling England alone.

It Would Break The Hearts Of People Looking Forward To Calling Kate Queen

It’s also no secret that the British public admires the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge so much. As a matter of fact, the majority of them want them to be their king and queen after Queen Elizabeth’s death.

If they divorce, then that means that Prince William will have to rule alone without Kate or find someone to replace Kate. Either way, it will be devastating for the Brits since they look forward to calling Kate their queen.

It Would Be Much Harder For The Cambridge Kids

Royal followers also speculate that if the divorce happens soon, it will be more heartbreaking for the royal kids. Unlike Prince Harry and Meghan, whose child is still a baby, Prince William and Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are already old enough to remember their parents splitting.
