Valentine’s Day is normally a time when people are sweet to one another. But for some reason, a 20-year-old woman shot his boyfriend and father of her child near a retail store for unknown reasons as of this writing.

20-year-old Alexis King is being charged with murder for fatally shooting his boyfriend on Sunday outside a Walmart outlet in Chalmette according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office. The identity of the victim remains under wraps, same with the motive of the shooting.

King is now facing second-degree murder charges as a result of the incident. The man was found with a gunshot wound in the parking lot area and rushed to the hospital for treatment. He was pronounced dead at the hospital not long after.

Video surveillance footage of the whole incident was captured, confirming that the man was a worker from Walmart. King admitted to shooting the man and is currently in the custody of authorities. There were no other reported injuries tied to the incident.

“We were devastated to learn that one of our own had passed due to this horrific act of violence,” a company statement to The Post read. “Our focus is on supporting the associates in the store during this difficult time and assisting law enforcement in their investigation. Our hearts go out to the family and all those affected by this terrible situation,” a statement read from Walmart representatives.

King is currently held in custody at the St. Bernard’s Sheriff’s Office. Efforts were made to get additional details surrounding the shooting but went for naught.

The 20-year-old has yet to appear in court according to a corrections officer. There is no date set yet as to when King would appear before a judge, the New York Post reported.
