The New Year is here and the WWE plans to start 2022 with a bang.

Most know that WWE Day 1 is set for Jan. 1 with Roman Reigns defending his Universal title against Brock Lesnar. It is a fitting main event although most may be surprised by the outcome.

Some future listings hint at what lies ahead for the WWE Universal title. Drew McIntyre, a former champion who most expect to rise once more, is set to face Reigns in multiple house shows in January with the Universal title likely in tow, WrestlingNews.co reported.

Of course, these allegations are subject to change. But heading into the 2022 edition of the Royal Rumble, it appears a Reigns vs. McIntyre would make sense.

But then again, the Scottish Psychopath could also do it using the backdoor. He could join the 30-man battle royal and then aim Reigns afterward.

But assuming these are what the WWE scriptwriters have in mind, the question is what lies ahead for Lesnar?

For now, it would be best to keep a close eye on the Beast’s match with the Tribal Chief at WWE Day 1. Paul Heyman, recently fired by the Bloodline, could play a curious role with most seeing him costing Lesnar the WWE title.

Although he hinted he would possibly quit the WWE, there is a chance that he could be hooking up with another WWE star that would stand up to Lesnar.

So far, no names have been mentioned although it would be best to check the ones who have been making runs. Sami Zayn was the last one who tried to get a shot at the Universal title before Lesnar defused all that.

Could Zayn and Heyman partner to take on the “Beast Incarnate?” It is possible but somehow lacks something. Hence the biggest question now is who will Lesnar feud with if Reigns does go on to set the stage against McIntyre.
