In the 2018 death of rapper XXXTentacion, three men were found guilty on Monday of first-degree murder.

Trayvon Newsome, 24, Michael Boatwright, 28, and Dedrick Williams, 26, were also convicted of armed robbery by a jury, reported the Associated Press.

Their sentencing has been set by Circuit Judge Michael Usan for April 6. But it will largely be a formality, as a life sentence is dictated by Florida law for first-degree murder convictions.

Williams' lawyer, Mauricio Padilla, told Insider that he respects the jury's decision, but does not believe that his client got a fair trial.

Padilla said that it was obvious from the days the jury was deliberating that they had questions and the lawyer only wishes "I would have been able to properly defend my client."

On June 18, 2018, XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, was shot to death after he left a motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

At the time of his death, he was a rising star in the music industry. His debut album, "17," reached the number two spot on the Billboard 200.

After his murder, four men were arrested and then charged with murder and armed robbery in connection to his death.

One of the four men, 26-year-old Robert Allen, pleaded guilty six months before the trial to second-degree murder. He later testified against the three others.

According to PEOPLE, Allen said on the witness stand that he and the three others planned to rob unsuspecting victims on the day the rapper was shot dead.

Before the robbery, they stopped by RIVA Motorsports to buy masks. Then they happened to spot Onfroy.

Allen said that he and Williams recognized the rapper when they entered the store. They returned to the car to come up with a plan to rob Onfroy.

Allen said that he told the group that he didn't think robbing Onfroy was "a good idea" as they were likely caught on surveillance footage in the store.

Prosecutors said that after Onfroy left the store and got in his car, Williams cut him off, making the rapper stop.

Prosecutors said that Newsome and Boatright then confronted the rapper, shot him, and ran off with a Louis Vuitton bag that had $50,000 in it.
