Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect reportedly responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings in April, reportedly spoke to his mother on Wednesday for the first time since his arrest.

Tsarnaev called his mother from prison, where he is being held in a 10-by-10 foot cell with a steel door with a slot for food, and a small observation window. The conversation with his mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, lasted six minutes.

Tsarnaev is recovering from a gunshot wound to the neck, received during a shootout with Boston Police in the suburb of Watertown, Massachusetts, his brother Tamerlan died during the shootout.

The wound originally hindered his ability to speak, leaving him to write notes to FBI officials during interrogations, however, the 19-year-old has now reportedly regained his voice. Tsarnaeva was promised one phone call per month as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev continues to recover in prison.

"I am absolutely fine, my wounds are healing. Everything is in God's hands. Be patient. Everything will be fine," Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reportedly told his mother during their phone conversation, according to Bloomberg News.

The suspected bomber's mother was more emotional than her imprisoned son, also telling Bloomberg News, "I couldn't stop myself from crying."

And while Dzhokhar and now deceased brother stand accused of bombing the Boston Marathon on April 15, killing three people and injuring more than 260, his mother insists he is innocent and that her children were set up by America. During a press conference in southern Russia, she was vague about exactly who she believed was responsible for the framing of her children.

However, she did tell reporters, "politics is a dirty game, not everyone can speak about this. I do not know who needed this. I know one thing, this has been done and that it was not my children."

After the apparent framing of her son, Tsarnaeva now fears for his safety and mental state while in prison.

"Mentally he is normal, but the child is shocked," Tsarnaeva told Bloomberg News. "It was really hard to hear him and for him to hear me. The conversation was very quiet. It was my child. I know he is locked up like a dog, like an animal."
