The market debut of Chrysler's latest supercar is just over the horizon and the American automaker has finally released the most important bit of information yet: the 2013 SRT Viper will start at $97,395.
Fitted with an 8.4 liter V10 powerplant producing 640-hp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque, one could even argue that the Viper is a bargain. Intelligently priced, the $97,395 figure slots the Viper well below the $113,000 price tag of the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
Moving on up, a range-topping Viper GTS will feature extra goodies including a more sophisticated traction control unit feature 'Sport' and 'Track' options, leather upholstery, power seats, a Uconnect infotainment system, and various other features. According to Chrysler, the Viper GTS will begin at $120,000, a figure that is still is just $3k less expensive than a fully loaded $123,000 Corvette ZR1.

While the Viper's pricing strategy may not be directly influenced by the ZR1, the latest American supercar certainly stacks well ahead of the aging-yet-iconic Corvette. What's more, the Viper's 640-hp power output is 2-hp over the Corvette ZR1's 638-hp. As we know in the world of American sports cars, horsepower is king.
