42-Year-Old Woman Stabbed, Buried Alive By Estranged Husband

A 42-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped, stabbed in the chest and then buried in a shallow grave but managed to escape and survive over in Washington State.

The woman was identified as Young An, a 42-year-old woman who allegedly had a domestic violence protection order against her husband, Chae An.

It was on Oct. 16 when authorities responded to a call with officers claiming that they heard muffed screaming and sounds of a struggle, The Guardian reported.

After investigating the home, police spoke to the children of the resident while also finding used duct tape on the premises. An endangered missing person alert was then issued together with social media posts and notifications in the counties of Thurston and Pierce.

"That went on for about 12 hours until we got first contact where the victim had been able to escape her attacker and gotten to a nearby house in a rural area a few miles away from where she was abducted," Lacey Police Chief Robert Almada said.

Police were able to procure some videos from residents, one that included the 53-year-old man pulling his van into the garage and then quickly shutting the door moments before police arrived.

At around 1:00 a.m. on Oct. 17, an unnamed resident allegedly woke up to Young An’s pounding on the door and asking for help on Stedman Road. The 42-year-old went on to claim that Chae An was trying to kill her, detailing how she was stabbed in the chest by her husband and then buried in a shallow grave with a heavy tree on top of her.

It was not mentioned how Young was able to escape from the shallow grave. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.

Chae An was arrested at around 8:02 a.m. that day after someone walking on a trail came across his vehicle. The 53-year-old was taken into custody without incident, the Olympian reported.

Chae An is now being held without bond. The police chief added that they are looking at the potential kidnapping and attempted murder related to domestic violence.
