First Lady Melania Trump is quite discerning when it comes to making sartorial choices. While she’s impeccably well-dressed at all times, insiders speculate that everything Melania wears has a (hidden) meaning to it. Here’s a lowdown on the five times Melania Trump used fashion to make a statement.

1) The “pussy-bow” blouse: Well, Donald Trump never fails to shock. But, he took things up a notch when he made a rather shocking statement— on women. In 2005, the current U.S President remarked that he could “grab” women “by the p---y” because “when you're a star they let you do it”. Soon after, Melani showed up at an event wearing a $1,100 Gucci pink pussy bow shirt, was all smiles and walked hand in hand with her husband.

2) The script flipper: Melania doesn’t really shy away from breaking the rules, and the same was evidenced in 2018, when she donned a white pantsuit— as opposed to what the rest of the democrats, who were dressed in all black ensembles in support of the #Time’s Up and #MeToo Movement. And, that wasn’t the only time she wore it. In 2019, Melania wore a black Burberry coat as opposed to everyone else who work white to celebrate women’s suffrage. While the intent behind choosing to stand out remains unclear, it’s certain that Melania likes going against the grain.

3)The massive gold belt and necklace during the Saudi Arabian trip: Kate Bennet, a CNN reporter, and Melania Trump enthusiast believe that the statement touches or rather her golden accouterments implicitly revealed how everything was good between the countries. The look is perceived as a nod to the kingdom.

4)The iconic coat that’s propped up on her shoulders: Melania has a thing for the finer things in life, and it’s evidenced in her choice of clothing. Not only has Melania brought back the coat into the fashion shelves, but she also amped up her look by perching the coat on her shoulders. Bennet believes the styling exudes a VIP vibe.

5) A menswear-inspired look to Africa: The first lady showed up in a rather bold avatar on her own before the press to tie up her time in Africa. Was the choice of outfit a conscious effort to not be outdone by the ancient wonders around? Well, your guess is as good as ours.
