Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marriage may have ended in a bitter divorce, but that doesn’t mean they’re letting their successful business partnership suffer just the same. In fact, the former A-list couple is starting a new champagne partnership as they extend their lucrative Miraval rose wine label in Provence.

Pitt and Jolie’s wine business started in 2011, when they bought the Miraval winery in France from American businessman Tom Bove for $31 million. Their business continued to thrive even after their divorce announcement in 2016. By June 2019, the vineyard broke records when a magnum of rose wine sold at a charity auction for almost $3,000.

In their bid to expand their business even further, Pitt and Jolie are partnering again with French wine-making family Perrin and another champagne house in Mesnil-sur in the Marne to create and introduce a high-quality, specialty rose champagne.

“It will be the only house in Champagne to produce only rose,” said Champagne house manager Rodolphe Peters. “The volumes will be very reasonable. About 10,000 bottles to start with and we do not plan to produce more than 25,000 bottles in the long term. The ambition is really to develop a benchmark rose champagne,” he added.

Pitt and Jolie reportedly aim to utilize the expertise of the Perrin Family and the Miraval Company in this new venture. “It is a family project between Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and their children with the families of winemakers Perrin and Peters, the latter two have known each other for a long time,” Guillaume Jourdan, the spokesperson for Varois Miraval, said.

According to Jourdan, the group has been working on the project for about three years now. However, they still need more time to finalize the release date and packaging of the upcoming specialty champagne.

Pitt and Jolie’s winery includes 500 hectares, including 50 hectares of vines, which they acquired in 2008. While they own the estate, the Perrin Family owns 50% of the Miraval Provence Company, which takes charge of the winery’s production and marketing. It was the Perrin Estate that held up the Miraval Estate while Pitt and Jolie were busy with their drawn-out legal battle in the past couple of years.
