AOC Tears Into 'Scam' Promise of 'No Tax on Tips' as Someone 'Who Has Lived Off of Tips': 'This Bill is a Deal With the Devil'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed the Trump administration over the ongoing war in Iran, claiming that it has "plunged the war into major global instability."

Speaking to Meidas Touch at the Capitol, the lawmaker claimed that the "vast majority of Americans are against a war with Iran."

"Two things can be true at the same time: We can acknowledge the brutal reality of the Iranian regime and their murdering of protesters. And we can also know for sure that a forever war will not resolve that issue," she added.

The House of Representatives is set to vote on a War Powers Resolution to limit Trump's ability to wage war in Iran. The initiative is not expected to pass, and a similar one has already failed in the Senate after all Republicans except for Sen. Rand Paul voted against it.

AOC, however, said that it is lawmakers' responsibility to "stabilize the situation and bring us back from the brink." "A war with Iran is not how we do that, and it's not how we accomplish anyone's goals," she said.

The lawmaker quickly reacted to the first strikes on Saturday, calling the war "unlawful," "unnecessary," and warning it will have "catastrophic" consequences.

In a statement posted on social media, the lawmaker recalled that both parties were conducting negotiations in Geneva, saying they "could have saved off war" but Trump "walked away from these discussions and chose war instead."

"Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people. Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different," AOC added.
