Most expect the Apple iPhone 12 release date to fall sometime in September 2020. Here are the latest rumors swirling around on what the upcoming device could bring.

iPhone 12 Display

There will be four phones in the 2020 iPhone 12 lineup, according to MacRumors. One version will sport a 5.4-inch screen, another will have a 6.7-inch display and two models will feature 6.1-inch displays.

All four iPhone versions will sport OLED displays. In addition, there are rumors that users can set the gadgets’ refresh rate to 60Hz or 120Hz, based on a tweet by leaker “Ice Universe.”

iPhone 12 Camera

There will be two types of rear-camera assemblies. There are two higher-end models, a 6.7-inch iPhone and a 6.1-inch version, that will have triple-lens rear cameras. These models are likely the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro.

Meanwhile, the 5.4-inch iPhone and the other 6.1-inch model will only have dual-lens rear cameras. Since the latter two phones are considered lower-end versions, they are expected to carry more affordable price tags. These two models are likely the regular iPhone 12.

The third camera of the iPhone Pro will be a time-of-flight (ToF) sensor which is used to capture the depth and create 3D images. Using a laser, the sensor will be able to scan objects up to 15 feet away.

The device will feature a front-facing TrueDepth camera that has a similar but limited 3D technology. Since it uses only infrared, it will also work up to 50 centimeters away and will likely be used to unlock the phone by facial recognition.

iPhone 12 RAM

Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis said that iPhone 12 will have 4GB of RAM while the iPhone 12 Pro will have 6GB of RAM. This could mean that two of the lower-end phones (5.4-inch and one 6.1-inch) will be the regular iPhone 12 and will feature 4GB of RAM. The two higher-end variants (6.1-inch and 6.7-inch) will likely be the iPhone 12 Pro and will feature 6GB of RAM.

iPhone 12 Processor

There are reports saying that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will manufacture the processors for the iPhone 12 lineup. The Taiwan-based firm will reportedly begin production of A14 processors for Apple starting in the second quarter this year.

5G Connectivity

All four iPhone 12 variants will feature 5G connectivity. Apple has re-established its ties with Qualcomm after it settled its legal battle last year. The new gadgets will reportedly use Qualcomm's X55 5G modem chip for 5G connectivity.
