Eva Longoria is not keeping still as a producer and has been acquired the rights to an intriguing telenovela from Colombia to develop at ABC. "Pura Sangre" is being set at the network that gave her fame when she starred in "Desperate Housewives." The new hourlong series is being dubbed "Trust" and will be produced under Longoria's UnbeliEVAble Entertainment banner along with Berman/Braun and Universal TV, according to Deadline. The mystery soap centers on David Montenegro, an attorney that receives the opportunity of his live when he becomes the Trusttee of the Lagos estate. David's intention is to be close to the family and rekindle a romance with his first love, Roselia Lagos, who is now engaged to another man. It won't be long before Montenegro finds himself trapped in this family web of lies and deceitfulness.

Longoria is making a name for herself behind-the-scenes and is credited as executive producer in the Lifetime series, "Devious Maids," which is also an adaptation of a Mexican series. Eva has found success in tapping into the Hispanic market and looking for stories that have worked there and adapting them to a broader market. Previously her production arm bought the rights to Televisa soap "Soy Tu Dueña" which saw huge numbers for the Univision network stateside. The network has not committed to producing a pilot and stalled at the script stage.

Not only is Eva Longoria looking into the telenovela market, as Ben Silverman, finding success with the adaptation of "Yo Soy Betty La Fea" as "Ugly Betty" on ABC has set forth projects in various networks taking on a similar approach. Earlier this year it was reported that Silverman had bought the rights to Venezuelan novela "Juana La Virgen" and it is now being developed over at CW for next year. Over at NBC an adaptation of "La Viuda Joven" is also being worked on with an approach that would have the soap run various times a week instead of a weekly schedule.

"Pura Sangre" was a hit when it aired in Colombia as it was action-packed and had a mystery that slowly unraveled during its 100-plus episode run. The story proved to be such a hit that Mexican giant Televisa bought the rights and developed a local version under the name "Mañana Es Para Siempre." The soap was equally as succesful in great part to Lucero's portrayel of the main sexy villain. The actress is mostly known for playing sweet and innocent heroines and this role was a huge departure from what viewers were used to seeing her in.
