List Of Prohibited Names

What would you do if your name was scrotum? We can assume you would not be a happy person with a name like that. That is exactly what the Sonora, Mexico authorities are trying to prevent and have published a list of names that are now prohibited. Cristina Ramírez is behind this movement which she said was to protect children from suffering bullying at school.

The civil registry establishes in Article 46 that it prohibits minors to be registered under names that are pejorative, discriminatory, shameful, degrading, lacking significance or constituting of signs or initials. Names on the list include super hero names like "Superman," "Batma," "Pocahontas," "Rocky," "Rambo" "Terminator," "Robocop" and "James Bond." We can also find names for online services like "Facebook," "Twitter" "Email" and "Yahoo."

Some bizarre names also made the list like Delgadina, that alludes to slim, or Gordonia, that alludes to fat. Marciana, which means alien is also in the list as well was Zoila Rosa which means "I am a rose" in English. A "normal" person would never think of naming their child any of these names, but if the Sonora government needed to make a list of banned names, it means that there were many people making this request at the registry. Check out the full list down below and tell us which name surprised you it made the cut!
