Two unoccupied new properties were destroyed in a fire after which three boys, 11, were arrested on suspicion of arson.

South Wales Police said that the three boys are on police bail while the investigation continues. The police department said that the homes on Gilmour Street, Tonypandy, Wales, were set on fire at 6.47 p.m. on Sunday, reported Mirror.

As the homes were set alight, fire crews were called out to Tonypandy. The fire crews were from Tonypandy, Pontypridd and Treorchy stations. A specialist equipment was used to extinguish the fire by firefighters, according to Wales Online. Following reports of the fire, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service called South Wales Police just after 7 p.m. on Sunday.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue said that at approximately 6. 47 p.m. on Sunday, they "received reports of a fire on Anderson Terrace, Tonypandy." The spokesperson shared that firefighters extinguished the fire using "specialist equipment, including hose reel Jets, a main jet and a 7 m ladder. A stop message was received at approximately 8. 13 p.m."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said that the department was called just after 7 p.m. on Sunday by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service "following reports of two unoccupied new build properties being alight on Gilmour Street, Tonypandy." The spokesperson added that the boys "were arrested on suspicion of arson and are on police bail while the investigation continues."

In a separate incident, a family with kids have lost most of their possessions after a fire that destroyed their house in south Wales, reported Wales Online.

On Friday, a fire started at Marilyn Hemmings and husband Mark's three-bed semi on Haydn Terrace, Merthyr Tydfil. The two were in the lounge at around 10.30 p.m. while their two children Malakai, 9 and Cassius, 6, were upstairs. Both the kids are disabled. It was then that Cassius came running down the stairs to tell the couple that there was a fire. The family made a panicked exit and emergency services attended the fire. The blaze has left the family's home destroyed.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said that cops attended following a report of a "house fire in Haydn Terrace, Merthyr, at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday." The spokesperson added that the fire was "not being treated a suspicious and we can confirm that nobody was seriously hurt."
